There are so many choices - how does one decide what type is right for them? As for weight lifting start with greater weight since you don't have to worry as much about your joints.
If you have thinner body type the world is your oyster, you can do any exercise you want, however you probably want to keep things like weight class in mind if you decide to take up something like judo or wrestling!
